Uber ends support for its Apple Watch app

The Uber app for Apple Watches was launched in 2015 and multiple users have used this app on their wrists to book a cab since then. Uber has silently ended the support for its Apple Watch app and the users now can only use their iPhones to book a cab on Uber, reports MacRumours.
Some users have complained that the Uber app was unavailable on their Apple Watches since December 2021. Uber is now recommending Apple Watch users use the iPhone app to book an Uber cab. It is not clear if the Uber Apple Watch app will be completely removed from the App Store.
The Uber app is still available on the App Store for users to download and install. The reports suggest that the app now shows a message about the dropped support after you install and open the app. Uber has also not updated its support page to show the change. The support site still suggests that the Uber app can be used to book a cab.
The Uber app for Apple Watches always had more limited functionality than the iPhone app. The Watch app never supported uberPOOL, fare splitting, ETA sharing, or contacting an Uber driver. These can be some of the reasons for the app being discontinued for the Apple Watches.
Lyft, a rival of Uber discontinued its Apple Watch app and pulled it out of the App Store in 2018. Since then, the cab booking platform has not offered any Apple Watch integration other than just notifications.
